Designing an ad for digital uses different skills than designing for traditional print. You have to work within the rules of the platform your ad will run on, and understand how people look at digital content. You need to design something that will entice people to stop scrolling and actually look at what you have made. Using a large image, minimal text, and a pop of color is a great way to do that.
